Educational Resources

Our campaign partner, the Science and Conservation of Fish Aggregations (SCRFA), has been building a library of materials for outreach for years and is by far the best source for resources. You can view a list of them here on the SCRFA Website.

Another good source for grouper info are the fact sheets put out by SPC and the LMMA Network. Here are the links to the English and Fijian versions.

In addition, we have embedded a few SCRFA videos below to get you started.

This first one is a SCRFA video on the state of Fiji spawning sites and the efforts to improve the health of the fishery, called Seeds of the Future: Fijian Spawning Aggregations.

This first one is a SCRFA video on the state of Fiji spawning sites and the efforts to improve the health of the fishery, called Seeds of the Future: Fijian Spawning Aggregations.

This 18-minute film examines the reasons behind increased fishing pressure on reef fishes, including spawning aggregations, and explores the problems and possible solutions. Important issues covered in the film are the growth of the cash economy and the need for a strong community component to management, supported by government.

Here is a short clip, entitled Spawning for Survival on the life history of spawning fish.
